Zelle® Is Now in the Georgia Heritage Mobile App

Oct 14, 2026

Female college student uses Zelle to transfer money to her roommate quickly and easily in her mobile banking app.

Zelle® Is Now in the Georgia Heritage Mobile App

Zelle® is now live in the Georgia Heritage mobile app. You can send and receive money with people you know and trust, right from the app you already use to check your balance. Here is how it works, how to sign up, and what to know before you send your first payment.

What Zelle® Is

Zelle® provides a fast and easy way to send and receive money with friends and family, right from our app. All you need is their email address or U.S. mobile number.

Money goes directly into your account within minutes, so it’s there when you need it.¹ There is no separate app to download and no waiting on a check to clear.

Zelle® is available in thousands of banking apps. Money is sent directly between banks without the need to share private account details. That means you can send money to friends and family even if they don’t bank with Georgia Heritage.¹

How to Sign Up for Zelle®

Zelle® is integrated in the Georgia Heritage app you already use to manage your account. If you have mobile banking set up, enrollment is quick and easy.

  • Log in to the GHFCU mobile app
  • Click on the “Send Money” under the Zelle® icon
  • Choose the email address or mobile number you want to enroll
  • Verify it with the one-time code we send you

That is it. You are enrolled and ready to send or receive.

Not using our mobile app yet? Download it from the App Store or Google Play and log in with your online banking credentials. If you are not a member, you can open an account online at gaheritagefcu.org with a $5 opening deposit.*

How to Send Money

  • Open the GHFCU mobile app and navigate to Zelle®
  • Click the “Send” button
  • Choose a contact, or create a new one by entering an email address or U.S. mobile number
  • Enter the amount and review it carefully
  • Ensure you know and trust the person you are sending money to
  • Hit send

If your recipient is already enrolled, the money typically arrives within minutes.¹ If they are not enrolled yet, they will get a notification with instructions to receive it.

How to Request Money

Waiting on someone to settle up? Sending a payment request with Zelle® is an easy way to remind friends to pay you back.² Use Zelle® to quickly and easily request money from people you know and trust, like friends and family.²

Split Payments with Zelle®

Whether you’re splitting the cost of a meal, gift, or trip, Zelle® makes it easy to pay your share.

With Zelle®, you can easily pay your roommates for your share of the rent, utilities, takeout, and other expenses. It works just as well for paying the sitter, sending a graduation gift, covering your part of a group beach house on Tybee, or settling up after a weekend at the Richmond Hill Farmers Market.

Select the “Split” option in Zelle®, select the recipients of your request, then enter the amount and let Zelle® do the math evenly or manually type in different amounts for different people ². Click send and wait for your requests to be filled!

🐮 From Cash: Split the check with Zelle® at the table before anyone “forgets.”

Powering the Way America Sends Money

Zelle® is one of the most relied-on digital payment networks in the U.S., enabling consumers and small businesses to send over $1 trillion annually. With 2,300 banks and credit unions now offering Zelle, most of them community financial institutions, the network delivers reliable and fast payments offered by the same bank-level protections already built into trusted banking apps.

Zelle® doesn’t require users to share private bank account information. Money is sent securely between U.S. bank accounts, typically within minutes¹, using only an email address or U.S. mobile number.

Zelle® isn’t just powering payments; it’s powering the economy, from Main Street to your street. That includes everything from rent and childcare to home repairs and local business services. Now, Georgia Heritage Federal Credit Union members can tap into that same national network to make everyday financial life easier and more connected:

  • For consumers: Pay rent, split expenses, send money to family, or cover everyday costs, all in seconds¹.
  • For communities: Keep local money local, supporting the businesses and people who make Savannah, Pooler, Rincon and Richmond Hill thrive.

Zelle® joins a digital lineup that already includes mobile banking, remote check deposit, digital wallet support, and surcharge-free ATM access through the MoneyPass® network.

Sending Money Safely

Zelle® is built for people you already know and trust, like family, roommates, your lawn guy, the neighbor who watched your dog. Treat it like handing someone cash, because once it is sent to an enrolled recipient, it moves fast.

  • Double-check the email address or mobile number before you send
  • Only send to people you know personally
  • Be cautious with anyone who pressures you to pay quickly, especially strangers online
  • Never send money to someone claiming to be from your credit union

Share expenses, not account numbers. To send and receive money with Zelle®, all you need to share is an email address or U.S. mobile number.

GHFCU will NEVER call, text, or email asking for your full card number, PIN, or password. If someone contacts you claiming to be from Georgia Heritage and asks for that information, hang up and call us directly at 912-236-4400.
