October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month
Protecting What Matters Most, Together.
At Georgia Heritage Federal Credit Union, your financial security is our top priority. During October as we observe Cybersecurity Awareness Month, we encourage all members to take a few simple steps to help protect their accounts, personal information, and finances from cyber threats.
While October also brings Halloween, cybercriminals will not come knocking on your door asking for candy. Instead, they deliver their “treats” straight to your inbox. These “treats” may come in the form of rewards, gift cards, gadgets, vacations, product trials, coupons, misdelivered packages, amazing photos, software downloads, media downloads, or other offers that seem too good to be true. Once you interact with the content, the fraudster may gain access to your device or sensitive information.
Fraudsters are constantly developing new ways to target consumers through phishing emails, text messages, phone scams, and fraudulent websites. Staying informed and vigilant is one of the best ways to keep your information safe.
Tips to Help Protect Your Accounts
Use Strong, Unique Passwords
Create passwords that are difficult to guess and avoid reusing the same password across multiple accounts.
Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Add an extra layer of security to your online banking and other important accounts whenever possible.
Be Alert for Phishing Attempts
Never click on suspicious links or provide personal information in response to unsolicited emails, texts, or phone calls.
Keep Devices Updated
Install security updates on your computers, smartphones, and tablets to protect against newly discovered threats.
Monitor Your Accounts Regularly
Review account activity frequently and report any unauthorized transactions immediately.
How We Help Keep You Safe
Our Credit Union continually invests in security technologies, monitoring tools, and fraud prevention measures to help safeguard your accounts and personal information. While we work hard to protect you, cybersecurity is most effective when we work together.
Remember
We will never contact you and ask for your online banking password, security codes, or complete account credentials. If you receive a suspicious communication claiming to be from the credit union, contact us directly using the phone number listed on our website or the back of your debit or credit card.
Stay Vigilant. Stay Informed. Stay Secure.
This Cybersecurity Awareness Month, let’s work together to protect your financial future and build a safer digital community for all our members.
Your Security. Your Credit Union. Our Shared Commitment.
