Throughout the spring and summer, Georgia Heritage Federal Credit Union was proud to roll up our sleeves, step into the community, and make a difference in ways both big and small. Whether walking for important causes, supporting local students, or helping protect the planet, every event was a reminder of why we love serving our neighbors.
Walking Together for a Cure
Our spring started with a mission: to make strides toward a future without Multiple Sclerosis. We proudly participated in Savannah Walk MS, joining passionate individuals to raise funds and awareness for MS research. Not long after, we laced up again for the first-ever Lace Up for Lupus walk in Forsyth Park, sponsoring the event, hosting a food and water station, and donating a raffle prize. Together, we brought awareness to a disease that impacts over 1.5 million Americans, most of them women.
Supporting Education at Every Age
Education has always been at the heart of our mission. This season, we donated an ice maker to Crossroads Academy to support their students and staff, and we once again partnered with Parent University to help equip parents with valuable tools for their children’s success.
We also hosted our annual Back-to-School Drive, collecting and purchasing a huge batch of supplies, from backpacks to notebooks, to ensure local students start the school year confident and prepared. We even got to hand-deliver some supplies to families at Parent University.
Empowering Local Youth and Organizations
In honor of National Foster Care Awareness Month, we proudly supported Gilliard and Company, helping empower young adults transitioning out of foster care. We also sponsored Blue Sky Ranch, who provides opportunities for hope, healing and growth to those that have faced trauma as well as those with physical, mental, and emotional disabilities, at their golf tournament! We showed our school spirit by supporting the South Effingham High School Cheerleaders Booster Club, and encouraged teamwork and community pride both on and off the field.
Engaging with the Community at Events and Fairs
Our team connected with neighbors at the Georgia Port Authority’s Benefits Fair, sharing how Georgia Heritage FCU can help members achieve their financial goals. We also supported the Pooler Lions Club’s Chipping for Charity Golf Tournament, an event that raises funds for vital community needs.
Protecting the Environment and Wildlife
Sustainability is a year-round commitment at GHFCU. We were a proud sponsor of the 25th Annual Earth Day Savannah celebration in Daffin Park, handing out reusable items to encourage eco-friendly habits. We also sponsored the Tybee Island Marine Science Center’s Turtle Trot, a fun, family-friendly event benefiting the Tybee Sea Turtle Project and local conservation efforts.
Celebrating Local Culture and Fun
Community spirit comes in many forms, even on wheels and four paws! We supported the Savannah Derby Devils women’s roller derby team, played alongside families at the Annual Doggie Carnival, and enjoyed spending time with members at events that bring people together in unique ways.
Looking Ahead
These moments over the past few month remind us that community is built one act of kindness, one event, and one connection at a time. None of this would be possible without our members, whose support allows us to give back in meaningful ways.
We’re looking forward to even more opportunities to serve and connect in the months ahead. If you haven’t already, join Georgia Heritage FCU today and be part of a credit union that invests in what matters most, our community.
