Georgia Heritage Federal Credit Union Supports Education Through Funding College and Technical School Scholarships.
GHFCU is now accepting applications for our 2025 Scholarship! Scholarships are available to High School Seniors who are members or are a dependent of a member, who is in good standing with the Credit Union. Anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in Chatham, Effingham, and Bryan counties is eligible to open an account at the Credit Union. If you do not already have an account, you can open one any time before the scholarship period ends to be eligible!
We will award two college scholarships- a $2,000 first-place prize and a $1,500 second-place prize. The online application process for high school seniors will close on May 5th, 2025.
As part of the submission process, applicants will be required to submit an approximately two-minute long video that showcases their creativity and commitment to the community. Students’ videos should answer the question “How will you use your education to help your community”. Additionally, students will need to submit their Academic Transcript, two letters of recommendation, and a compiled submission of their extracurricular activities.
Criteria
- For scholarship purposes, the term dependent is defined as: a natural or adopted child, stepchild, or ward who is a dependent of a Georgia Heritage Federal Credit Union member. The parent, guardian, or student must be a Credit Union member in good standing prior to the application deadline.
- Must enter an accredited college or technical school as a full-time student within six months after completion of high school.
- If an applicant or their immediate family has caused a loss to Georgia Heritage Federal Credit Union in the past, the applicant is ineligible for the scholarship program.
How to Apply for the Georgia Heritage Federal Credit Union Scholarship
Step 1
- Create a video with the topic of “How will you use your education to help your community” and Upload your video to YouTube.

Step 2
- Ask for two letters of recommendation from teachers, administrators, or volunteer coordinators.
Step 3
- Fill out the application by answering all questions, uploading your documents, and providing the link to your YouTube video.
- Disclaimer: You will include a link to the YouTube video uploaded. All components must be submitted by 11:59 PM (EST) on 5/5/2025, for your application to be considered.
