As the seasons changed, so did the energy inside our branches and throughout our community. This fall, Georgia Heritage Federal Credit Union celebrated traditions, supported local organizations, and came together with members in meaningful ways. From festive gatherings to impactful outreach, we’re thankful for every opportunity to give back and connect.
Here’s a look at the moments that made this fall special.
Springfield Fall Festival
The Springfield Fall Festival (pictured) was a wonderful opportunity to connect with families, share resources, and celebrate the spirit of community. Members stopped by to enjoy free giveaways, meaningful conversations, and take part in plenty of fall fun!
GHFCU’s 85th Birthday Celebration
Eighty-five years of serving our community is something to celebrate! Each branch marked this milestone with treats, smiles, and a look back at how far we’ve come. We’re grateful for our loyal members who make anniversaries like this possible.
Food Drive: Supporting Local Families
This fall, we gathered donations across all branches to support Second Harvest, Manna House, and New Hempstead Elementary School.
Members and staff teamed up to collect food that went directly to families in need. We’re proud to stand behind these organizations and extend support to households throughout the community.
YMCA of the Coastal Empire – Giving Tree
GHFCU was honored to participate in the YMCA Giving Tree, helping provide holiday gifts for local children. Our staff showed incredible generosity, ensuring more families experience joy during this holiday season.
Gilliard & Company
We partnered with Gilliard & Company to support foster families and sponsor a family for the holidays. They are transforming lives throughout Georgia by providing unwavering support and empowerment to young adults transitioning from foster care, as well as children and families still in the system, and we are proud to be a part of their mission.
Halloween Costume Contest
Our annual staff costume contest brought all the creativity and fun you’d expect, and our community even helped choose two winners! Between frightening displays and friendly competition, it was a highlight of the season. We also randomly chose two voters from our social media to win as well.
Supporting Survivors: Mary’s Place & Savannah SAFE Shelter
In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, GHFCU made a donation to the Savannah SAFE Shelter, and donated comfort items and supplies to Mary’s Place Sexual Assault Center. These organizations provide life-changing services for survivors, and we’re committed to supporting their efforts. If you or someone you know is in danger, please call the SAFE Shelter’s 24/7 hotline at (912) 629-8888.
Telfair Mammography Fund: Breast Cancer Awareness Month
This October, we contributed an ultrasound biopsy donation to the Telfair Mammography Fund, which helps provide screenings and care for underinsured and uninsured individuals in Chatham County. Branches also distributed educational cards, pins, and stickers to raise awareness throughout the month.
International Credit Union Day
All GHFCU branches celebrated International Credit Union Day on October 16th with food, snacks, giveaways, and a full day of appreciation for our members. It’s a reminder of why credit unions exist, to serve people, not profits.
Government Shutdown Assistance
To support federal employees affected by the government shutdown, we offered financial assistance programs to help ease the burden. We’re here for our members, especially in difficult times.
Rincon ATM Celebration
Our Rincon location celebrated a newly updated ATM with giveaways and member appreciation. We’re excited to continue improving convenience and access to financial services.
AFSP: National Suicide Prevention Month
In recognition of National Suicide Prevention Month, GHFCU made a donation to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s Savannah Walk. This contribution helps support life-saving education, advocacy, and community programs. If you or someone you know are struggling, please call or text the national suicide hotline at 988.
Looking Ahead
Fall was a season filled with gratitude, connection, and meaningful impact. We’re thankful for our members, our partners, and our community for making these moments possible. As we move into the winter season, GHFCU remains committed to giving back and supporting the people who make our community strong.
Thank you for being part of the GHFCU family.
